I want to tell you about something I didn’t think I’d ever be excited about: budgeting.
Yeah, I know.
But hear me out.
A while back, I stumbled onto the 50/30/20 rule in a random YouTube video. And for the first time in my life, budgeting didn’t feel like this overwhelming thing I’d never stick to.
If you’ve never heard of it, here’s the deal:
- 50% of your income goes to Needs (rent, groceries, bills)
- 30% goes to Wants (fun stuff, hobbies, Netflix)
- 20% goes to Savings (future-you wins, debt, investments)
That’s it.
No tracking every dollar. No overcomplicated spreadsheets. Just clarity.
And to be honest? That’s all most of us actually need.
I went down a rabbit hole trying to make something around it for myself - especially because I have ADHD, and most money apps or templates feel like punishment.
So I built this in Notion:
- Follows the 50/30/20 method (customizable %)
- Visually shows your spending progress
- No setup, just plug-and-play
- Optimized for phones
- Doesn’t require you to track every cent
I use it daily now. It doesn’t overwhelm me. And that’s kind of a miracle.
So I’m sharing the base version for free - because I think more people should have an easy way to manage their money without stress.
